The Air Conditioning Systems and Services business of Ingersoll Rand
provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that enhance
the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings around the
world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard Heating
& Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems, service
and parts support and advanced building controls.
This is an engineering staff position in a fast moving new product
development group. Primary responsibilities include providing test
planning, development, prioritization, coordination, and execution for
new and existing Z-Wave RF enabled home automation products; designing
and implementing advanced web based Z-wave network maintenance and
diagnostics utilities; and providing full test support for web based UI
and cell phone resident UI applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Act as the key expert in overall network and RF device testing.
a) Perform system level integration testing of embedded controls and 3rd
party control products.
b) Manage software release testing through the matrix organization.
c) Develop and document PC based test applications interfacing to Zwave
and /or Zigbee control devices.
d) Provide third level technical support for field issues. Investigate
root causes and drive both containment and corrective actions as
appropriate.
2) Work as a member of product development teams as the owner of product
validation.
a) Develop performance, reliability, and certification test plans
including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans.
b) Perform testing, document results, and drive corrective actions as
appropriate.
c) Manage execution of the test plan through the matrix organization and
through third parties to ensure program schedules
3) Work with system and software engineers to develop device control
software and network utilities.
4) Develop standard test protocols and assist in the automation of
relevant test procedures.
5) Participate in Design Reviews, Stage Gate Reviews, Service Manager
Calls, etc as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education required: BSEE/CS
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in a test engineering and development
environment
- Development of at least 3 large scale system test solutions involving
development of custom software.
- Experience with networking and/or communications protocols
- Other Skills: Good Communication, documentation, collaboration and
leadership skills
- Ability to work as part of a team that includes multisite members,
outside vendors and consultants as well as ability to work independently
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- PC based software development in MS .Net, Visual C/C++
Experience with Z-wave and /or Zigbee wireless communication networking
- System debugging, bug tracking
- Use of network monitoring devices, oscilloscopes, and general
electronic lab equipment
- Demonstrates the ability to analyze a problem and complete detailed
reports.
- Able to methodically produce the steps which exhibit bugs in the
product and be able to reproduce and communicate these steps.
- Shows initiative in gaining in-depth experience in areas of technology
relevant to
testing of company products.
- Has ability to adapt to the changing needs of a project and meet
deadlines
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
- Labview / LabWindows software development experience a plus
- Experience with NPD phase gate development process
- Experience with DFSS engineering principals and practices is a plus
- TestTrack Pro bug tracking and reporting software
